INDIA Alliance Urges Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to Impeach High Court Judge G.R. Swaminathan

The INDIA Alliance has called for the removal of High Court Judge G.R. Swaminathan, stating that he has misused his authority while serving at the Madras High Court's Madurai Bench by supporting terrorists who came from outside areas to instigate riots in Thiruparankundram. Not only did he allow the terrorists to light a lamp in a manner that incited violence after the Karthigai Deepam festival had concluded peacefully, but he also sent CISF personnel, who are assigned to High Court security duty, to accompany them. This is a clear abuse of power and is against both the Constitution and the Places of Worship (Special Provisions) Act, 1991.

For acting against the law, creating unnecessary communal tension in the Madurai and Thiruparankundram regions, and attempting to disrupt law and order across the state, the INDIA Alliance leaders and Members of Parliament, including Ezhilchi Thamilar Thol. Thirumavalavan, along with Priyanka Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav, T.R. Baalu, Kanimozhi, S. Venkatesan, Durai Vaiko, A. Raja, and Jothimani, met with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and submitted a petition on behalf of the INDIA Alliance, demanding the impeachment of Justice G.R. Swaminathan.
